An update and sort of run-down of things for you all.
I have reason to believe that the Observer is not dead but fled in fear after the attacks on Paranoia's Temple and Academy. He was our best possible physical defender, so his absence is quite upsetting to myself.
I have established a bit of a mental link with an "investigator" in Yellow Field. Judging from what he has told me, they are indeed in the Valley of the Sickness. It is an area in Maraino's domain where those who are stuck in fever dreams and similar delusional states before death find themselves. Maraino has attempted to fool the townspeople into going about their daily lives, and most of them are completely unaware that anything is out of sorts. This investigator, Alex Lynn, will be guiding as he uses his somewhat questionable detective skills (he's a very good detective - it's just that the morality of some his techniques may be a bit... off) and trying to help us find the Physical Aspect of Paranoia.
You may not know who or what that is.
You have been told of the twins who were fathered by Donald Wilson and how they were blessed by both Maraino and Calliope, yes? Well, one of Paranoia's brothers' representative revealed, perhaps unintentionally, the identity of these two boys. A ritual was performed by the most powerful of Priests and Children to summon an aspect of Paranoia who would merge with one of the twins. Such a figure would be extremely powerful, immune to any attack by Maraino and Calliope, and a perfect avatar for Paranoia. Maraino and Calliope's blessing would be powerfully repellent at first, so the aspect had to be very strong. The aspect summoned was powerful enough to merge with only one of the twins. That twin now lives in Yellow Field.
In fact, this is the whole reason Maraino has "stolen" the town. He cannot kill something that he has blessed and placed a spiritual investment in without crippling his own powers (even if it is only temporarily); However, he is also aware that the boy would be a perfect pawn for Paranoia. He knows the boy is too powerful to restrain forcefully, so he has tried to keep his world running as it was before he was placed in the Valley of the Sickness. He lives a sham of his real life. Maraino assumes the boy is safe within Yellow Field and that anyone powerful enough to track him down is dead. He is wrong.
As I have said, there is only problem. Because of my position in the ranks of the Priests, I was never given the identity or any information about the age of the twin. So far I know that it cannot be Alex, so I have managed to cross one name off the list. Alex will just have to guide us through the town, I suppose.
More updates as they come.
