I heard reports from one of my few trustables that a large wolf had attacked his brother, who was once a God of art but has since taken to living like a human. The wolf had burst through his home, and he estimated it stood about twenty feet tall. It snatched his brother up in its maw and attempted to carry him off. A fight ensued, and the wolf was blinded in one eye. It attempted to grab the man again, but, probably realizing it needed to be mended first, left.
I have a pretty good idea as to who this (the wolf) was and set out to find him. I decided to use a more conventional mode of travel. This is where things get weird.
I'm driving and it's dark. I see a sign in the distance. I think I can read what it says, but it makes no sense. I know it can't be true.
Welcome To
YELLOW FIELD
"Where the amber meets the blue skies."
Soon, the town itself appears. I'm driving right into main street. All sorts of memories flood back. I want to stop and visit with my old friends and family, but I can't keep driving. I start to feel really warm, and I roll down the window. I can smell something burning, but I can't see any fire or smoke. No lights are on in town, no cars out on the streets, and there's not even a single pedestrian on the sidewalks.
I start to drive uphill, which doesn't really match up with how the town was really like. I see this really nice house up in the distance. I know I have to go there. I needed to talk with someone there. I pull my car up to the house's gates, climb out, climb over the gates, and start to walk up its long driveway. I see a parked pickup truck. It seems really dark inside of that truck. I get a bad feeling about it. I'm pretty sure I know what's in it, but I'm compelled to look for myself. I peer into the car and see a boy slumped over. He's been shot. He's dead.
I hear a voice say, "I didn't know she was pregnant." I look around. I see no one.
I realize I have to go into the house. I enter through a backdoor, and notice immediately that the house is much smaller on the inside. It feels sort of like my uncle's house. I make my way to the kitchen. Inside of the kitchen stands a man holding a bloody knife. He's wearing overalls and a t-shirt that are also covered in blood. A woman is laying on the ground. He looks at me. Somewhere else in the house, it sounds like a child has started to cry.
I decide I should probably go outside and wait for my uncle. A friend of mine is smoking cigarettes on the front porch. He's an author. I ask him if he's writing anything new. He tells me that he doesn't do that anymore. This makes me sad for some reason. The sun has risen, and the boy from the truck comes up to the porch. He seems much better. He asks me if I'd like to go to the movies with him.
I don't really remember the drive to the movies, but I remember standing in the lobby. Next we're watching the movie, but I'm with my old girlfriend instead of the guy from the truck. I think the movie might've been "In the Mouth of Madness". That was one of my favorites when I was Alex. I notice something, though. Everyone in the theater is glaring at me. I think they're mad at first, but then I realize that they're scared. I turn to my girlfriend. Her face is gone.
Someone on the movie screen asks, "What are the chances?"
I'm riding home, but I'm on a subway for some reason. There's a boy reading a magazine or comic that's title is simply "COUNTDOWN". There's a familiar man with glasses and a cane sitting across from me. There's a man in the corner watching us all. I think I knew him once.
The man with glasses says something.
"I held you once."
I get out at the next stop and start walking the streets. It's snowing, but it hurts to touch the snow. Everyone on the streets seems to be sick. I'm about to help this man who appears to be vomiting when I see someone walking down the street. I know this person. It's the Thing That Saw Time.
It looks to its side and says, "What are the chances?"
I look to my side and see a theater full of people. I even see Alex Lynn. I see me. They're staring at me. They're scared.
Not knowing what to do, I just look at my feet. I notice that there are seven shadows on the ground that don't belong to anyone. They're completely still. One of the shadows appears to be white.
I wake up.
The Observer had somehow gotten the feeling that I was in great danger. He found me on the side of a road. Something happened to the car I was using, and it looked as if I had tried to walk. I am still not sure what happened with me. I do not know why I saw what I did, and I don't know why I'm so compelled to tell you all about this.
We checked out the place where the Wolf attack happened. After listening to a description, I know I have confirmed a spotting of the original Amaguq.
It is only after this somewhat cheerful confirmation that me and the Observer realize something.
Earler in the evening, DoctorManhattan, one of the members from when this board first started, showed up here again. I only told one of you this (in PM), but I designated the Observer to be his guard. He knew the contents of the original HappyCube. He knew things that I have forgotten. He needed to be protected.
We traveled back to his home as fast as possible. Before we enter his doorway, the Observer says something to me.
"They cut his eyes out."
We enter the home, and DoctorManhattan lays in front of the television screen. On television, James Woods puts a gun to his head and blows his brains out. A television explodes. I knew this movie once.
I look at the body in front of the television. Its eyes have been cut out.
This has not been a very good night. We've lost one member to what could possibly be the Hunger, Amaguq is back in action and carrying off random deities and god-like beings, I had this weird fever dream, I let an original member of the HappyCube die, and there's some news about Asag that I know is going to annoy some people.
Oh well. Things could've been worse.
