Who is Joseph Bright?

Throughout most of early 2007, a man claiming to be named Joseph Bright was a participant in the "Wyoming Incident" alternate reality/role-playing game that used this board as a headquarters of sorts.
Bright is unstable and may have irrationally acted on things that he saw or read about on these forums and in the game. There is reason to believe that he has continued to play the game, despite it ending almost two years ago.
We do not know how active the off-site community is, but we have heard that there are/were IRC channels and other websites where details about the Wyoming Incident were discussed.
If any of you knew and conversed with anyone from a chatroom or forum who called himself JosephBright, JoeBright, JoBright, JBright, B-37, CopperFist, or AmIn, please message me whatever details about him you can. Useful information would include details about where he is currently living (even just the state would help), what his current occupation is, whether or not he is abusing drugs, possible alternative names he may be using, and so on.
Thank you.

Are you at liberty to say what he has done? There are some details I can provide. While living alone, he was supposed to be kept supervised. He'd receive weekly visits from his doctor that would, in time, turn into monthly visits. He'd have had complete independence by the end of next year if he had behaved himself. At some point during his obsession with the game, he stopped taking his medication. A month ago, his apartment was found abandoned. He left a letter for his doctor that stated he needed to "sort things out". Since then, several of the people behind the Wyoming Incident have received threats from him. The man who ran the game and made the videos (Senor Bambos/ilovetofix) seems to be his main focus of attention. Somehow, perhaps off of another forum, he got a hold of his phone number. He's called him several times, threatening his life each time. He seems to believe that the admitted "puppetmasters" didn't actually make the videos or write some of the stories posted here. Of course, all evidence points to the posts and the videos featured here being completely and totally the work of this forum's administrators. Unfortunately, he can't think about these things sort of rationally. We think he may have also been involved in the assault of some men in the state of California. Details about that are sketchy, and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with this board or the game. He's more of a threat to himself than anyone else, really. I don't mean to scare anyone.

What a fitting name.
And who are you, mister moderator?

Did Joseph have a user name on this board? A cursory glance through the list of them doesn't turn up any of his pseudonyms.

What a fitting name. And who are you, mister moderator? Several staff members from the hospital that previously took care of Mr. Bright have requested that I (and two colleagues) do what we can to try and dig details of him up online. Police are handling the matter in a far more direct way. Unfortunately, I don't believe the direct way is, in this case, the most effective one. They are aware of and approve my presence on this board, however. The original administrators were kind enough to grant me moderation privileges - so long as I don't delete anything. Did Joseph have a user name on this board? A cursory glance through the list of them doesn't turn up any of his pseudonyms. We're not sure. There's a good possibility that he, like many involved in this game, simply lurked here. However, lurkers will still often talk in chatrooms or even on more casual forums. We just don't want to rule anything out.

Well, what is Joseph's view of the, game, then? If he believes it to be real, and not just real, but ongoing, it would be pretty hard to keep that viewpoint up once the game ended and the new information stopped coming. Is he just making it up as he goes along?

Mister boardmoderator,
This is going to sound incredibly, unbelievably, almost unthinkably callous, but can you provide some proof as your claims? This would not be the first time the "puppetmasters" have pretended to be someone from the Real World investigating events this forum set in motion.

Well, what is Joseph's view of the, game, then? If he believes it to be real, and not just real, but ongoing, it would be pretty hard to keep that viewpoint up once the game ended and the new information stopped coming. Is he just making it up as he goes along? He believes that the videos and some of the stories originally posted here were real, and he believes the Greek mythology angles and the fantasy elements were all purely an invention of the Puppetmasters of the game. See, he knows that a lot of what happened here wasn't real, but he believes there was something Bambos and the others were hiding. He believes they didn't make the videos. So he watched the videos, and he read a few stories I suppose you could say he considered "canon". He obsessed over the faces in the videos. He was convinced they held some sort of significance. And he didn't believe for a second that Bambos or anyone else here had made them. A lot of people doubt Bambos made the original videos, apparently. It's apparent he, at the least, edited them a little - adding color at one point and maybe even addin music where there was once simply random pitches. Bambos is hesitant to talk to me much about the videos, though he assures me they are his own. I believe him - he's a professional video editor. I simply think he wants to move on with his life and do something that's more than just a viral video for the internet. But people like Bright latch on to these things and will fervently deny any possibility of their obsession being completely unreal. So he's been watching the videos over and over, taking notes on them, searching through the websites they were first posted on, doing the same for the written stories, and apparently, he's kept himself quite busy keeping tabs on the entire Wyoming Incident staff. He's got them a bit unnerved, it seems. It also looks like he's been traveling around. That's a source of quite a bit of frustration for us. We think we've found a blog of his, but we can't be positive because tracing the IP just turns up internet cafes and public libraries. Very frustrating. More details on that to come if I can just get the OK.

This would not be the first time the "puppetmasters" have pretended to be someone from the Real World investigating events this forum set in motion. Not at the moment. I prefer to keep my identity and the identity of my colleagues private. There are many details about Bright, but unfortunately, due to his medical and psychological history, revealing those would be like walking through a legal minefield. Keep in mind that I am no police officer or government agent, and I lack some of the privileges that comes with that level of authority. Now if Joseph were to, God forbid, commit some sort of federal offense or something, that might change things. Right now, all we're looking for is a fairly troubled adult.

So no "Local patient goes missing" story in your regional newspaper you can scan for us, then?

So no "Local patient goes missing" story in your regional newspaper you can scan for us, then? We're not talking about a patient here. The truth is, this was handled on a very personal level by his doctor. He'd known and trusted him for years, and there was an agreement that the doctor would vouch for his independent lifestyle as long as he agreed to let the doctor check in on him. They had a very casual setup. There were very few tangible reasons for the hospital to keep him under surveillance, but the staff knew that there were severe problems with Joseph that were simply difficult to categorize. There also, until recently, was no evidence to suggest he was in any way dangerous to anyone - himself or others. That's why I'm here. The staff members of the hospital are handling this very personally because it's not technically their jurisdiction. It's not illegal for them to try and find him out, but they're not obligated to, either. The police only care about the assault charges, and frankly, those are largely unimportant to me. Even worse, those charges will only keep the police motivated for a short period of time. A few more days and he'll just be another man with a warrant on his head - one of thousands. It's a very tricky situation. I'm walking a fine line here, but it's the best chance we're going to get at restoring Joseph's life to normal.

In regards to other forums, I found out about this game on a board called unfiction. It's a site dedicated to A.R.G.'s. I'm sure they have the thread on this game archived there.

Yes, my one partner is currently going through that. It's a bit of a pain because there's at least three threads related to the Wyoming Incident and the longest one's a good fifty pages. Even worse to handle is Something Awful. We're not sure just how many threads there were about the Wyoming Incident on there exactly, and the search system is completely down. We've been using Google to search, and it's had barely minimal success in finding anything.

I can't say I know of Joesph or remember the name, but it was a long time ago. If the guys doing research over at unfiction (where I first heard of the game) need another helping hand, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do.
I also agree SA is going to be a nightmare to look over.

I definitely lurked around. I might have seen one of those above usernames, but it's been far too long... I don't know if youtube comments will help, but looking at the comments for the original videos might help? Here are some relevant links I've saved in my bookmarks and never deleted: forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18374forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18415happycube.wetpaint.com/Best of Luck EDIT: Oh, I just went back to the links to the videos. It seems like they were taken down. EDIT2: As I looked in some more, I found that the following user on youtube that made responses to the videos seems have a similar tone to the blog, as well as some form of the obsession you described about the videos: www.youtube.com/user/ineedtolikeyou On top of that, that user posted as "ahh_ahhaha" on unfiction on the 16th page or so, and seems out of game (and was warned by several people).

There is also an account on Youtube that has the same name as his blog username www.youtube.com/user/idontforgiveNo videos yet, but worth keeping an eye on. EDIT: Or not, since it hasn't been logged into for over a couple of years. Still, the username "IDontForgive" seems a good way to try and track him.

Looking over his Blog, it seems that he was searching for any connection, big or small, to anything at all. So he, presumably, found out about the Wyoming incident, told himself that some pieces didn't fit the puzzle, and latched onto it like a tick to a dog. We'll have to see what he brings to pass.

I've read through your posts and I have to say it startled me. I got an email this morning about something urgent going on here and I came to look, and what I saw... I didn't like. Now... I'm going to be as straight forward as I can, considering the majority of you who might read this will think I'm a fraud but, I think I know this Joseph Bright you're talking about.
I used to roommate with a young man who called himself Garret Luc-Michael. He was a friend of a friend that I was told was trust-worthy and would at least pay rent on time. It's been about four months since I've lived in that apartment with him, I'm not sure what he's doing now but back then it seemed like he was slowly losing his mind over something. I remember he pulled me aside one day when I mentioned I used to "lurk" on this website myself and started asking me feverishly about everything I knew. The administrators, the moderators, the "puppetmasters" all that. I remember him distinctively saying a couple things: 1) the "game" was using two code words to both describe and hide a huge problem that started back before any of this "happy cubing bullshit started". "Wyoming Incident" is a code name used to cover up the plot against the Father. They wanted everyone to believe it was a mind altering, ritual abuse, brain washing thing. 2) the numbers 333 is a code used to ask people to pay attention. That it's posted in strategic places as events are happening to point out significance to the Children. I remember he went on about something called the Other Union, and now that I read your posts about his hospitalization, I think he's referring to that.
I'm not sure what else to say, you can ask questions if you want. I do know that last time I saw him it was here in NM and he was working at a pawn shop.

And how are we to trust you? A patient with severe mental problems that has no paper trail to back it up? Using an internet board full of strangers to try and locate him? It seems to me that you're trying to keep this out of the hands of the authorities.
Reading Joseph's blog it almost sounds like a lot of his "care" was done against his will.
